Yesterday, I walked down to the local sports Grill to watch the game.  Friends of mine were there for the first half and then left. The guy sitting two chairs down away from me was wearing a blue shirt but doing that really obnoxious loud clap every time South Carolina would score.  So I asked him, when did you go to USC?  He flashed a big smile and said that he didn't but that he's a big fan of the coach.  I was curious so I asked More about that.  Turns out this guy played for him in high school down here in Miami. I don't  generally know anything about coaches unless they are with Florida. But in this case, I found this very interesting. 

 Frank Martin was the assistant coach for the infamous shaky Rodriguez at Miami high. This was a scandal filled program.  He ended up taking over that program before moving onto different  positions in the college ranks.  The loud clapper turned out to be quite endearing. He was beaming as he told me about how hard Frank made him work. How he made him largely who he is today.  He said he knew he was going to go on to coach a top program somewhere in that he was disappointed that FIU would not hire him years ago.  Well, now I am, too. 

 Anyway, the clapping no longer bothered me. It was really fun watching somebody so deeply affected by a coach on the sidelines and then be so proud to watch him win. It also made it a little easier when the gators lost. It was nice to shake his hand and congratulate him and leave at that point.
