10EC can defend himself, agreed. From my standpoint, though, I can't couple the right to life and policies around everything else that could potentially affect the mom and the child. Why not promote adoption more? Why not try and err on the side of life? At least give that life the chance to become something great.

I wills say no more in this thread about it as I know this will change no minds. But I do think it is quite unfair to accuse one of supporting a right to live only to put on them the belief that they don't care about life at any stage. Supporting policies around assistance does make one any more of a compassionate person around life than one who promote a right to life, IMO.

supressing access to birth control, sex education, etc.  I would think that those who are the most hell bent on making abortion illegal could/should/would start by trying to identify and tackle root cause, which in this case, is usually unwanted/unplanned pregnancy.  Maybe this is where the two sides could/should/would find some common ground and go full force on preventing the pregnancies in the first place.  I do not think abstinence messaging is effective.  Some of the loosest chicks I knew in HS and college were chicks brought up in super religious families (two I can think of had Dad's who were preachers - oh, memories).  Kids and young adults are going to #badword# each other.  That's reality. So why not create a situation where everyone has access to the tools and information they need to NOT get prego?

Well, in many cases, we know why that is.  The assault on PP is ridiculous b/c they are the ones whi in many cases try to get ladies what they need to NOT get prego.
