"Updated recruiting board.....cuz things have changed since last time" |
|
This list is not all inclusive. I haven't included guys I think are just a pipe dream or are just there in case we miss on practically everybody. Others may emerge and be added to the board while some drop off as we go on. Analysis....at QB its feast or famine. We either flip Fields which would be awesome or it looks like we get nothing. We have gone all in on him. WR looks fairly good if we get Copeland which looks likely. It would be really good if we get Copeland and Thompson though that seems less likely. At RB Clement and Martin would be an OK outcome...not a great outcome but not bad. It would be a little annoying that we missed on two in-state 5 star backs particularly if one of those goes to fsu a year after they just signed two 5 star backs. Offensive Line looks simply awesome. The state is loaded and Brad Davis has been a recruiting dynamo so far. If he is able to pull in the guys he leads for, this will be one of UF's best hauls ever at OL. I could see us taking 5 if we get guys like Barnes, Gouriage, Petit-Frere, Wonnum (all top 100 players BTW) and two of Clement, Dunlap and Campbell (Clement and Dunlap are around #200 in the country overall). If he reels something like that in, it would be a total transformation of the OL and Brad Davis would have to be considered a home run hire. Let's see but it looks good right now. Defensive Line. Parsons would be an absolutely AWESOME get at DE...its also a longshot at this point. Sandidge it looks like UF will have a real shot at though. That would be a huge get for Rumph. Lamar is a good one and UF leads by all accounts. Culpepper is a good looking prospect even if rated a bit lower than the above listed guys and UF looks like it can get him too. The D-Line is a little concerning considering the state is a bit down at the position this year. It would take an upset or two but I think we can do OK here. At LB, Pope is a good looking prospect and it looks like he's ours to lose. UF trails for all the others but considering we signed 4 last year I don't know how much of a priority this really is. At DB, Smith is a good looking Safety. UF looks like we will land Burney at Safety too. Wilson is a good looking corner and UF leads for Miner. Tyreke Johnson is highy rated but some questions have been raised about his Junior film. Obviously UF will pursue and see how he looks this season. Surtain looks all but out for UF unfortunately. He would be a staggeringly huge get. UF looks like its Safety haul will be good and its Cornerback haul will be OK though not as strong. Overall, the class looks like its shaping up OK. A lot will hinge on Fields, reeling in the OL UF leads for, and pulling an upset or two to land a couple of elite Out of state Defensive Linemen. If those 3 things happen, this is probably a #4-6 class. If we miss on Fields and don't get one or two of those out of state studs on the DL, it looks like a class that will finish somewhere around #10. Defensive Back Tyreke Johnson CB, Jax 5 stars ….younger brother of the QB sow was forced to boot when the footage of him smacking a chick was made public. That ruined sow’s chances with Tyreke. He’s 6’3” but is fluid enough to have a shot to play cornerback. There are a lot of questions about his Junior film but he certainly has the measurables and is highly rated. Our top competition is UCLA and the Leghumpers. I’d say our chances look good right now. Amari Burney Safety 4 stars from the Tampa area. Ranked #104 in the 247 composite. Will commit June 1st. It looks like a UF/Ohio State battle for him but I think the Gators have a big lead. He’ll be a Gator IMO. CJ Smith Safety 4 stars from the Tampa area. Ranked #202 in the 247 composite. UF jumped on him early. Committed to UF. Divaad Wilson Cornerback from Miami. Committed to UF. He is a 3 star and is ranked #404 in the 247 composite currently but absolutely tore up a couple camps already this year so his ranking is sure to rise. The Hillbillies, scUM and others are trying to get in on him now but he is firm to the Gators. Jaquayln Crawford WR/CB from Texas. Bevo is leading but he is has liked the Gators since he was a little kid. We’ll see. I think it’s a longshot. Kyler McMichael CB 4 stars from Atlanta. At 6’1” 185 he is a taller corner. He is ranked #142 in the 247 Composite. It looks like Clemson and LSU lead. Jordan Miner CB 4 stars from Tampa. 4 star and ranked #296 in the 247 composite, he is 6’1” and 180. He is being pursued by UNC, Auburn, Penn State and others but the Gators lead. I think there’s a good chance he ends up in the class. Patrick Surtain CB 5 stars from American Heritage…one of the top recruits in America. He is a legacy for LSU and they and sow lead. It looks unlikely but we will pursue and hope we can pull the upset. Linebacker Nik Bonitto 4 stars LB for Saint Thomas Aquinas. Lots of other schools are after him. We have not offered yet but he really seems to like us. He is an undersized DE for STA and a lot of the speculation is that we would take him as a standup LB. He is very quick. If we offer I think it’s a 50/50 shot with the main competition being Michigan. JJ Peterson LB 4 stars from Georgia. Top rated OLB in the nation. Very little is known about who he is favoring at this point. Dax Hollifield 4 stars from Shelby, North Carolina. Ranked #106 in the 247 Composite. UNC, Va Tech and the Cocks lead. He liked his UF visit. They key now will be to win over his parents on the official visit. If we can do that, I think we'll have a shot. Channing Tindall 4 stars from Columbia, South Carolina. Ranked #228 in the 247 composite it would take an upset for UF to pull him away from the hometown Gamecocks. David Reese 3 stars from Ft Pierce. He is a more athletic outside guy at 6’2” and 213. The three in-state programs are all after him. It looks like he will end up being scUM. K’Vaughan Pope 4 stars from Virginia he is ranked #141 in the nation. UF leads though fsu and Ohio State are also pursuing him. Defensive Line Micah Parsons DE 5 stars from Pennsylvania. He is ranked the #3 prospect overall in the 247 composite. Everybody is after him. Ohio State and Penn State are thought to lead. He will visit UF soon. It would definitely be an upset for UF to land him. Malcolm Lamar DE 4 stars from Seffner Armwood. He is ranked #172 in the 247 composite. It looks like a UF vs Bama battle for him with UF clearly leading. He’s fairly big at 6’5” 250 already so he could possibly grow into a DT. He has said he will take his recruitment the distance but has also given some indications that he might end it earlier. Dorian Gerald DE Juco Originally from South Carolina he has offers from Bama, fsu, LSU, Oklahoma, and Georgia…so obviously he’s a big timer. He had 12 sacks last year and at 6’3” 255 with three years of eligibility left, he is not yet rated. The Cocks lead. Judge Culpepper DT 3 stars from Tampa Plant. He’s from Plant where we NEVER get anybody BUT….you already know whose kid he is and where his dad, grandad, great uncle and great grandad played. Brad is making sure his kid goes through the whole process and looks things over carefully but the indications are…..Gator. Don’t be put off by him being “only” 3 stars. Bama and Tennessee and others have already offered. I think he signs with the good guys. Rick Sandidge DT 4 stars from North Carolina. One of the top rated DTs in the country he is #113 in the 247 composite. UNC and the Cocks are said to be his leaders. He has visited UF and sow and scUM. It looks like scUM did not make much of an impression but it appears UF and sow are now players in his recruitment along with UNC and the Cocks. Quarterback Justin Fields QB 4 stars from Georgia. Committed to Penn State. He is a physical specimen. He is clearly the top guy on our board. Lots of people want this guy…sow, the Leghumpers, Alabama, us, etc. This looks like it will be a fight all the way until he enrolls in January. He is looking around. There has been some rumbling that he may flip to UF. We will see but it looks like we have put all of our eggs in his basket backing away from every other QB we were looking at. So its him or nothing. Tight End George Takacs TE 4 stars from Naples. Big dude at 6’6” and a little light at 230. He’s a much better receiver than blocker at this point. Ranked #316 in the 247 composite. Looks like its us or Notre Dame though several others want him. Notre Dame leads for him but UF is still pursuing. Jarrett Jackson TE 3 stars Palm Beach. Louisville leads. He’s more of a receiver than a blocker but given we only signed 1 TE last year and are losing one and given that only 2 of the 5 on our roster can actually play….and I expect several of those others to be gone after next season, I think we would like to take 2 TEs. Jalen Goss 3 stars from Valdosta, Ga. He plays Offensive Tackle in HS and has been brought on board to be a blocking TE at UF. Coach Mac’s Offense really needs at least one TE who is a good blocker. Committed to UF. Wide Receiver Jacob Copeland WR 4 stars from Pensacola. Not particularly big at 6’0 and about 190 pounds he is nevertheless a dynamic playmaker. Ranked #52 in the 247 composite. THE first player Coach Mac ever offered upon taking the UF job. Others including Auburn and Bama and sow want him. They always seem to be #2 (it was Clemson earlier) with UF always leading. Obviously Coach Mac has developed a relationship with him. He won’t commit until the Under Armor game. I’d bet Gator. He’s our top target at WR. Warren Thompson 4 stars from Seffner Armwood. A big physical receiver at 6'4 and 190. We want him but most think sow leads. Sow and UNC are the top competition. We would absolutely LOVE to bag him. I believe he's the #2 WR on our board after Copeland. He's ranked #124 on the 247 composite. Jalynn Williams 3 stars from St Pete. Committed to UF. He has good SPARQ scores to apparently he is a good athlete. He is a pure slot WR and won’t play outside. Anthony Schwartz 4 stars from American Heritage. He is skinny at just over 170 pounds by might well be the fastest player in America. He will run track in college. To be honest, he is good but not a really dominant guy on the football field. Ranked #230 in the 247 composite. UF leads but I’m not sure if he is a take or not. Again, he really can run though….. Corey Gammage 3 stars from Delray Beach. He is ranked #601 in the 247 Composite. He’s a big guy at 6’2” and 190. He is raw but is a very good athlete. Committed to UF. Running Back Iverson Clement 4 stars from New Jersey he is ranked #278 in the 247 Composite. He is an average sized back at about 5-11, 200 pounds but has good speed and quickness. Committed to UF Asa Martin 4 stars from Decatur Alabama. He is ranked #215 in the 247 composite rankings. UF supposedly leads but in-state powers Alabama and Auburn are vying for his services too. Offensive Line William Barnes OT 4 stars from Apopka. Ranked #45 in the 247 composite, He can also play Guard. The Gators are heavy favorites over Ohio State, Auburn and UNC. He’s about 6’5” and 315. He has a good relationship with Martez Ivey who was also from Apopka. I’d be surprised if he signed anywhere other than UF despite a ton of others pursuing him. He’s been to Gainesville several times and has a close connection to Brad Davis. Nicholas Petit-Frere 4 stars OT from the Tampa area. Ranked #55 in the 247 Composite. Bama, Notre Dame and Auburn are recruiting him the hardest and several others are pursuing….but the Gators lead. He’s only about 260 right now so he’s got a little growing to do. I’d bet Gator. Curtis Dunlap 4 stars OG from IMG Academy (originally from Jax). He’s a bit heavy at 368 and will need to shed about 30 pounds though everybody thinks UF leads. He is ranked as the #203 overall player in the 247 Composite rankings. Dylan Wonnum 4 stars OG from Tucker, GA. He is ranked #64 on the 247 Composite Barton Clement 4 stars OG from Missouri City Texas. He’s ranked #192 overall in the 247 composite. UF leads. John Campbell 3 stars OT from Orlando. Don’t be put off by the 3 stars. A bunch of schools have offered him including scUM, Bama, the Hillbillies, sow, the Leghumpers etc. We are thought to lead. It looks like it’s a UF/scUM battle. He will make his decision soon. Reuben Unije 4 stars OT from IMG. We’ve been working on him for a few years. We are thought to lead. Bama, the Hillbillies, Arky and a few others are after him as well. I have heard mixed reports about him after he was rated very highly a year or two ago. We’ll see. Richard Gouraige 4 stars OT from Tampa. Ranked #88 in the 247 composite he is an athletic Tackle prospect at 6’5” and 270. UF leads with Clemson trailing. He seems to have made a connection with UF OL coach Brad Davis who has taken the lead back from Clemson who had jumped ahead of UF several months ago. He has said he could commit anytime it feels right. Others like Bama and Auburn want him but they trail. |

-- Starred by: crl Beachmaster SpacinGator LAGator gatorvette1012 G8rSid Swamp Lizard -- “Every man should endeavor to understand the meaning of subjugation before it is too late… It means the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern schoolteachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the war; will be impressed by the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit objects for derision… It is said slavery is all we are fighting for, and if we give it up we give up all. Even if this were true, which we deny, slavery is not all our enemies are fighting for. It is merely the pretense to establish sectional superiority and a more centralized form of government, and to deprive us of our rights and liberties.” Maj. General Patrick R. Cleburne, CSA, January 1864 "I yet believe that the maintenance of the rights and authority reserved to the states and to the people, not only essential to the adjustment and balance of the general system, but the safeguard to the continuance of a free government. I consider it as the chief source of stability to our political system, whereas the consolidation of the states into one vast republic, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of that ruin which has overwhelmed all those that have preceded it."
