During 6-7 months out of the year they are mostly in hog heaven (when they win Natty C), but during those other months, they are constantly bitching about their lack of excellence in most other sports especially baseball and basketball.  Their argument is, with all the money football makes for the university, why can't we be even respectable in more than just a couple of other sports.  (My comment: I agree.  For all the $$ football makes you would think Bama would be better than middle of the pack in SEC sports performance).

After the loss to Clemson last January my brothers were despondent for a couple of weeks but perked up a bit during Signing Day.  Yet, a week after signing day I was teasing one of my brothers about the embarassment of riches Saban reeled in.  His response surprised me a bit.  He essentially said, I am glad Saban can recruit, but Dabo beat us with inferior talent and should have beat us last year too.  They are all concerned about what life will be like after Saban leaves.

Purpose for sharing this is, there are Bama fans that do want more than just dominance in football.  (My comment: They would be friggin unbearable if they EVER won the SEC All Sports Trophy).  My brothers know I view their alma mater as a one trick pony.  Yeah, I wish we could beat their asses in football, but I relish our excellence as the Gold Standard of athletics in the SEC.  We own this conference in sports across the  board, and everyone of our rivals know that.

Lastly to Hung's and Ali's points. My observation as a die hard UF fan for over 40 years supports Hung's assertion that most Florida fans care MOSTLY about football - - and a significant portion care ONLY about football.  I have many friends in those categories.  However, my personal experience supports Ali's boast that by enjoying UF's excellence in so many other sports other than just football, my enjoyment factor and overall  experience trumps that of those in the "football is the only thing that matters" category.  

Looking forward to UF's next Natty C - - regardless of the sport.
