"I don't get all the handwringing over Franks' development" |
|
Message Replied To ========== I don't get the uber excitement about this guy... he didn't do well in the pro-set system (which we run) and he got beat out by a freshman. I'd hope that our Redshirt Frosh QB is as good, if not better, than ND's FRESHMAN. What I DO like about him is that he adds instant depth and HAS TO BE better than LDR...and likely Trask (who was the most reach of reaches). But what concerns me is that he wouldn't come here to ride pine. So if he comes here, he's been sold on the idea that he has a real shot at starting, and that would not be a good indicator of Franks' development. We'll see. But it looks as if he's coming. Another year, another band-aid QB. I hope to see Mac recruit and develop a QB so we don't have to keep doing this. Dislike away, but I bet all of you want the same thing. ==============================you can't expect a freshman to be ready. If Zaire is even decent, that would be a huge plus. I for one, would feel a whole lot better about starting a redshirt Sophomore than a freshman. Also, this gives us a competent backup at least in case Franks gets injured. Picking up a Senior from a bigtime program who would have started at arguably our weakest position can't be anything but a really good thing. |

-- Starred by: gatorvette1012 crl Beachmaster UFNY J-VILLE GATOR -- “Every man should endeavor to understand the meaning of subjugation before it is too late… It means the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern schoolteachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the war; will be impressed by the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit objects for derision… It is said slavery is all we are fighting for, and if we give it up we give up all. Even if this were true, which we deny, slavery is not all our enemies are fighting for. It is merely the pretense to establish sectional superiority and a more centralized form of government, and to deprive us of our rights and liberties.” Maj. General Patrick R. Cleburne, CSA, January 1864 "I yet believe that the maintenance of the rights and authority reserved to the states and to the people, not only essential to the adjustment and balance of the general system, but the safeguard to the continuance of a free government. I consider it as the chief source of stability to our political system, whereas the consolidation of the states into one vast republic, sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home, will be the certain precursor of that ruin which has overwhelmed all those that have preceded it."
