Lived a heck of a life, booming presence, full of life and laughter. Had been ill for a while, he had a heck of a run but finally rolled snake-eyes.

 He went into the hospital about 10 yrs ago for a bypass. They expected to put in a heart stint. Ended up putting in 4 and he went into a coma. Lasted for several weeks, family was being consulted on options. He woke up in the wee hrs of the morning and called my other uncle to come get him,. A month later he was back flying his plane. Man was a force of nature.

I had not seen him in years but I counted on him being there, hard to imagine the world without him in it.  

Weird how sad you can get about someone you have not been that close to and have not seen in years, but who shaped a lot of your thoughts on life just by being who they are.
