VikingGator and I have decided to go on a cruise for the first time ever.  We're doing a short (4 nights) trip on Royal Caribbean that leaves from Tampa and has stops in Key West and Havana.  We decided on a cruise because we've been so freaking busy that the thought of vacation planning like we usually do was super unappealing.  Instead, we decided let's just go on a cruise where we can just kick back and relax and not have to decide anything!  HA!!!  Was THAT ever a silly assumption!  Once we booked the trip, we got information about all the decisions we now have to make.  Do we want drink packages?  If so, which one?  Do we want dinner reservations?  If so, to which restaurant(s)?  Do we want wifi?  For which devices?  Do we want to go on planned excursions at our destinations?  If so, how to choose?

Any thoughts from experienced cruisers to help us with our many decisions??

I thought we knew each other.  

Drink package...4 drinks a day = break even.  we get them, and they lose money on us.  Don't listen to DJ.

wifi...I get one and we share because I like to be able to delete Lava's posts from the middle of the Caribbean.

Excursions...go on cruisecritic.com message boards, ports of call section, and book the recommended tours.  You won't go wrong...cheaper and better.

Specialty restaurants...do one or two.  Go to  Chops if you like filet mignon.
