...that it was a criticism of Trump, but I don't have much respect for the organization anymore either. I was a scout growing up, but the scouts then are a far cry from the scouts of today as that jamboree showed. Right now it's nothing more than a homophobic right wing training ground that has moved away from being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. At that jamboree they weren't cheering those ideals, and Trump wasn't talking about those ideals. It was all right wing politics. When I was a scout politics were never mentioned, and we would never dream of booing anyone let alone a former President of the United States. I'm not surprised it happened, but right wing hate politics has invaded our churches, and even the Boy Scouts. The Scouts are no longer as American as apple pie. What a loss.

Seriously whose stupid idea was this anyway? At what point do you say - yeah, bringing in Trump to speak to 1000s of Boy Scouts sounds like a great idea... what could possibly go wrong?

I disagree. I left a troop I loved when I was 14 and never becoming an eagle scout will forever be a regret.

The boyscouts I knew were led by dads and moms who pushed young men to be independent through selfactualization and teamwork and taught and encouraged the skills men (and women) need to realize their potential.

Everything, these days, is seem through the prism of politics. While the executive echelon of bsa leadership may care about conservatism, the parents I knew never talked down to us or in a derogatory manner about our peers; regardless of how we felt about one another, the success of the team was dependant on the success of the members.

Trump politicizes everything.

Trump is abnormal and obtuse.
