He's really got the racist fascists whipped into a frenzy. They think they are about to "take the country back" - anyone who does anything that results in his impeachment or removal is, IMO, going to be in considerable danger.

coming from bannon, gorka, hannity. trump is either their dutiful idiot (what's in it for don? he is enjoying the "atta boy" praise after he "tells America what nobody else has the balls to" from his manipulators and adulatory minions across the country) OR he is far more cunning than pretty much everyone thought, or maybe a combo of both.  I don't know which, but to dismiss him as a bumbling, off-message dolt is a mistake, b/c there is 30% of the country he's appealing to quite strongly, and maybe another 10-15% who have tuned him out and seem to express this almost clinical ambivalence which kind of reminds me of the old Seinfeld bit about watching out the windshiled of a NY cab with indifference as the cabbie nearly kills you 10 times during a 12 block ride in Manhattan.  

To your point more directly - he is quietly stacking the deck.  I have absolutely NO doubt that if he makes it far enough to run a second time and loses, he will make an utter catastrophie out of it and will do everything in his power to stay in power.  This is how authoritariasnism starts and democracy ends, with people like Trump.  We need our government leaders from all walks of life to start standing up to this guy before it's too late, I am sure donnie does not GAF how he stays in power.
