that type of thought policing is an impossible mission, for this or any other forum. 

Let me be perfectly clear that I would support any policy that prevented name-calling or any other form of insulting language that [as I've said before] "crossed the line between critical and cruel."

But now you want more than that, you actually want us not to post anything critical, period. 

For example, I had a post that listed his stats...his stats...but that drew criticism from you and others. As did previous posts that recognized FACTS that LDR was a walk-on who at Bama and didn't lock down the starting gig at Oregon State. 

So based on your posts and the posts from others who were highly offended at the LDR criticism, factual posts are also off limits. 

My recommendation for you would be to be clear if that is what you want. Make clear that this and the recruiting page are not open forums for discussing UF sports...that this is a positive forum for only happy posts about Gator sports. And that this policy includes posts that list statistical data that is less than flattering for UF, it's coaches, and its athletes. 

If that is what you want, then fine. But I'll be moving on and I would bet that many others would as well. 

I am going to be very honest and candid now. The VS has moved away from the forum it once was when I first visited in 2001. So many have been pushed off this forum and what was once a diverse community has devolved into a smaller and more cliquish collection of friends. Sometimes that collection turns, aggressively, on those who aren't in their fold and have different points of perspective. 

And I don't think threads like the one you started actually help the community. If anything, they further empower those who make a habit of aggressively attacking other members of this community anytime they post something that is slightly less than sunshine. Conversely, LDR has not gained a damn thing from our conversation on this topic. As I've said before, I'd support efforts to stamp out mean-spirited posts (directed at players, coaches, and fans), even if they come from me. But this thread has actually instigated MORE of those posts rather than less. 

This is your site and I'm thankful that you have opened it and allowed me to post here. If you want it to go further down the censored path, then fine. That's your choice and I won't feel victimized. Not in the slightest. I'll simply appreciate the time I spent here.

I have said the exact opposite probably no less than hundreds of times on this board over the years.  CRITICISMS OF PLAYERS IS FINE! It's a freaking message board for goodness sake. I myself have been critical of players and coaches.  If you (and those who share your WRONG perception of what I am saying) think that's my policy here, then so be it.  I find it amazing that that could be your perception.

Posts are not deleted for containing criticisms of player.  NEVER...unless they include name calling of players.  You can't seem to separate people having a difference of opinion and expressing it, with censorship.

I, as a poster, as a Gator fan, as a parent, and as just a person don't care for what I deem to be overly harsh criticisms of 19 year olds.  It's just me, and I say it...as a poster.  

I have never threatened to ban you, I have never deleted a post because it was critical (unless it contained name calling...which, of course, is against the board rules).

And if you want me to be as candid as you were, since you're railing about wanting more criticism on this board, then I am happy to reciprocate.  Your extreme sensitivity over being criticized here on several occasions does not align well with your willingness to welcome a more openly critical forum.  You have, on several occasions, expressed your own feelings of victimization  and you have accused me more than once of being mean to you when I disagree with you.  You've implied I have it out for you.

I don't.  Never had. 

Now as for losing posters...this may sound bad...but I don't care!  I enjoy this board, I enjoy the Lounge.  I like many/most of the people who post herre.  Sometimes I like some more than other times.  But if this board isn't fun for anyone, then I don't blame them for moving on.  We've had a great run here.  Social media has evolved, and we are still here.  I hope it continues, but I am way past losing sleep over this stuff.

Bottom line...I'll say this for the zillionth time...criticisms are fine. But I ask people to always keep in mind that these are hard working and driven young men with families and friends, and they don't need to be spoken about like they are items here for our amusement only and discarded when we are done with them.  

And it's only my opinion and it's not a board rule.  I feel it's just right on a human level.
