I don't doubt there is some of that, but certainly not on the scale as you propose.  There are some that sees how much Trump is pissing off politicians and sees that as success, despite his many gaffes. And there are some who still see him as anti-establishment and like what they see, despite his many stupid tweets.

It continues to be insulting to dismiss those that voted for him and those that may still say they like what he is doing as a bunch of racists. It's an easy dismissal, IMO.  Though racism has been there, is there and will alsways be there, I don't think it is the reason we are where we are, as you apparently do.
