Background:  About a year and a half ago, the 27 year old son of a good friend/business colleague of mine, who also got into my industry, was involved in a horrible boat fire.  He was burned over most of his body, mostly arms and legs and torso.  His outlook was grim and he was in an induced coma for a couple of months.  He's a big strong kid, and with the care of the people at Miami's Jackson Memorial Burn/Trauma center (followed by some tough therapy) he eventually made a full recovery.  I was with him earlier in the week at a shopping center convention and he looks great and is full of life and spirit and is greatful for every moment.  In fact he has already been instrumental in raising a couple hundred thousand dollars to help pay for a laser burn gizmo that will help other burn patients.  A remarkable effort on his part.

So the convention in Orlando ended Tuesday, and while driving home, he decided he needed to do more to help others (since he has been so fortunate).

Within 24 hours, he rented a large U-Haul and got it filled up with donations, gots lots of $$$ donated, and is now on his way to Houston with his brother and sister to face the unknown and to help however he can.

His parents are both proud and nervous.
