"In fairness, much of the response to this tragedy has been really impressive." |

Message Replied To ========== Here's how "beautiful" it was for some... A must read from the Houston Chronicle. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/local/hurricane-guide/harvey-51inches/ ==============================To call the relief and recovery efforts beautiful is an odd choice of words, but the thrust is reasonable. The storm was miserable, but to not be awed by how the community and the country have rallied would take a cold hearted SOB. It is not all doom and misery here and we do have a lot to be grateful for. When you drive through some of the neighborhoods that had suffered heavy flooding, you see giant piles of their former belongings, carpet, drywall, insulation and flooring. House after house. That is sad, but also uplifting. Uplifting because of the speed at which the recovery is underway. Today I asked my adjuster what he thought about the speed at which the houses are being cleared out so they can be repaired. He said he has never seen anything like it (and neither have I). There are armies of impromptu volunteers helping families get their lives back together as fast as they can. Yesterday I was visiting one of the two primary shelters. (Not the one Trump went to.) Yes, it was not a happy place. But it was not gloom either. There was so much effort being put into trying to help, and more importantly well thought out and coordinated help, that the feel was much more positive than you would guess.
