Most of the activists I know right now are working their asses off collecting supplies and volunteering to help out those without power, food, water and housing in our area right now.

Native you are by all accounts thoughtful and engaged. HOWEVER if you are trying to politicize the humanitarian relief efforts, that is very wrong (that's how I read your post). There are faith based groups as well as business groups that are made up of pigeon blood red GOP helping across the spectrum. The storms are bringing out the best in all of the deep deep south, and the rest of the USA too.

 Most of the "non activists" I know - which is 95% of the people I see every day sitting in church, or chamber meetings, or affinity groups, or just standing around sports fields are helping where they can --- sending supplies to Harvey victims. 1 group is gearing up a $$ drive for Caribbean nations. For folks like me, where we were without power for a couple of days in GA, we are looking at how to assist where ever and wherever.       

I'm going to help as well when I think I can get around the Tampa Bay area. I'm planning on being there WED PM. Who needs help or supplies? List them in a response and I'll be down with a large SUV with stuff.   I won't ask them if they are in the resistance, I'll just ask them what they need and be on my way. Anonymously.
