Message Replied To ========== What does the NFL do now? I have read but cannot find what the NFL will do. Nothing? Allow peaceful protests that anger the consumer to go on? End the playing of the anthem? Have players in the locker room until a certain time? do they decide to kneel post game?
Because obviously the matters at the core of the protest can't be solved any time soon. Do the players say ok point made, move on?
I'm not watching anymore. I can't be alone. The main reason for me - I have very close friends in the military, and while vets and active duty are of differing views on this, to a man those I know are deeply troubled by how the anthem/flag are treated. And yes, I know and appreciate that for those protesting, it's not merely about the flag. My military friends can't separate the two (but others of course do).
One said it's like booing a college coach during the game. How do the players know that the boos are directed to them? Because the people booing say so say it's coach directed? They still hear it right? (maybe not a great example, just one made)
So what do you think the NFL does? And I think we can have a discussion that isn't hysterical. I appreciate and respect the views of those supporting the protest. And I'm not mentioning the President's position.
============================== Before Trump's tweet about all this, a handful of players (less than 10 from what I read, but I can't find the link) were sitting/kneeling during the National Anthem. Most everybody had forgotten about it. But then Trump plays to his base and suddenly, what had died down after Kapernick's actions, becomes the talk of the nation again. So we can thank Tiny Handser for A) Making a mountain out of a mole hill; or B) Reopening the dialouge on race relations in the U.S., the original intent of Kapernick's actions. |
