One thing that bothers me is the way Finebum, Dooley and others keeps talking about the way Gator fans are calling for Coach Macs job. A few people on call in shows is not a true reading of how Gator nation feels but these few with their negative opnions get the majority of the press.==============================

and for good reason. No matter, IMO, it would take a major controversy or a complete collapse for Mac's job to even be considered this season. If the season turns south and the offense keeps struggling...Mac will be on the hot seat next year. This AD didn't hire Mac. This AD is trying to rebuild fire-damaged bridges with boosters. 

With all of that said, Mac's seat is not hot...yet. If we close out the season by beating FSU and qualifying for a mid-tier bowl...he likely won't be on the hot seat next season. If we do those things AND Mac closes out the 2018 recruiting class with a top 5 haul (that includes Matt C), his seat will be chilly. 

So I wouldn't get worked up over Finebaum's comments or those from his fans. Not yet at least. 

As for how Mac has handled the suspensions...I'd grade him at an A+++. According to the AD, it was Mac's idea to suspend the players pending the investigation. I believe that decision should be left to the school, rather than a win-maximizing employee, but it's refreshing to see a HBC at a school like Florida not go the easy/scummy route. Mac's punitive measures pending the review also will protect UF in the case that the NCAA starts sniffing around. I can't think of a clearer example of institutional control over a difficult situation. 

While some may look at how things have been handled and think, "um...duh...the suspensions were a no-brainer"...I instead point to what is going down at Louisville and Auburn today (and other schools as well). Coaches don't always handle controversies like this very well. Again, these men are paid to win games, so I think the universities need to step in and manage cases like this. Still, it's nice to know that our HBC will do things the right way. Very nice to know.
