PR has lots of  fine people but much of their local government is welfare state corrupt banana republic. Check with people who know the island. Know a S FL  significant business operator who deals with the riff raff corruption in S FL and PR puts them to shame. So much so while he was making a killing it made him want to throw up and he sold out to get out!

This is the worsts light being put on a WAPO post.  I would not call this "fact".  I would call it directed cherry picking.

They compare and contrast Florida and Texas.  Not all of Texas or Florida was devastated.

All I could find backing up this "refused to go" is the White House.  That bastion of truth.

Puerto Rico's debt and fiscal problem are not entirely of their own making.  They suffer like Michigan and other places.  And the same types of problems result.  They are no different with their pensions and "entitlements" except that Congress is less eager to throw money at non-represented people.
