Only need one bullet to take the shooter out. Only reason for rapid fire is to kill many. And I'm ok

If the only reason is "to kill many" . . . why do cops need them? Nope. The military's purpose is to "kill many" in defense of the Constitution . . . there exist no such directive for the cops.

I'm not unsympathetic to the idea of limitations on firearms but those limitations must exist for the civilian authorities as well and the reasoning must be the same. Only entity tasked and granted a blanket waver to kill many, and only at the authority of the US Congress, is the military.
