21,000 were suicides, 12,000 homicides and 99% of homicides were not due to mass shootings. Those are the statistics that should bother people. But the media give zero #badword#s and coverage about suicides unless it's a celebrity or about murders unless a celebrity is murdered or does the murdering or unless four or more are killed at the same time or by the same person serially over time or unless it's a person shot by a cop or a cop is shot

The poor bastard that blows his brains out or is murdered while working as a clerk at a PAK A SAK is just as dead as the unarmed civilian shot by a cop in the back or shot while going to concert in Vegas or as the cop ambushed by some dirtbag.

Also although murders are up the past two years, I attribute it to the dead cat bounce.
