We've seen this movie before. It didn't end well.

For those who seek to use healthcare as a wealth redistribution scheme, then they are correct, it does not end well at all. But for all of those small businesses and individuals that are not subsidized by the government for healthcare and have borne the brunt of the ACA then this is a great thing because it opens up choice in coverage.

They keep saying the ACA "only requires 10 basic coverages". That is a lie. It requires "ten paragraphs of coverages" many of which are elective. It was overreach by Obama who put those things in the ACA by executive order (via the HHS Secy) after it was passed. The Birth Control mandate was one of them.

As for these things being "medically necessary"..hogwash. They may be beneficial but being beneficial does not make something "necessary" nor is it a reason to make that service free of charge to the consumer (no co-pay, no deductible) such that all economic moral hazard is removed from the consumer (patient). Your child's straight teeth are a cosmetic CHOICE not a medical necessity. And if all of these things are "necessary" why allow large self insured companies to be exempt from many of them in their plans? Why is the burden only placed on individual and small group policies?

The order to allow individuals and small businesses to buy in to small association plans to gain economy of size in health insurance is a GREAT one. As for what "needs" to be covered, that needs to be a bipartisan decision through Congress NOT an Executive Order passed through HHS. And once passed it must apply to ALL insurance. And NO SERVICE should be without a deductible and copay. Everyone must have "skin in the game" so to speak. Nothing should be 100% covered unless that individual is paying that premium in full.
