Various mediots will quote their "solid sources" on who the UF coach will be. This will include several different names over several different weeks, with at least one "Deal Made, signing coming soon" proclamation. Possibly airplane following and stalking of AD's to see where they go.

UF AD will keep mum and just say search is ongoing.

Fans will work themselves into frenzy as various coaching candidates re-up their contracts with current employers for a huge raise. Fans will go through depression as their hot coach of the moment falls off the list.

Rumours will get wilder and start to  include silly names such as Belechik to coach at UF or Dan Quinn decided he loves the college game.

UF will announce the true candidate. He will be a good candidate who passed all the interviews and criteria laid down by the AD. Of course, some fans will feel the AD does not know what he is doing and will have reasons why the hire does not meet the truly needed criteria, known only to them due to their special football knowledge.

Many fans will immediately jump on board and support the new hire.

A small corps of fans, disgruntled that their guy did not get the gig will give grudging "support" and then spend the next few years chipping away at everything the coach does, and jump on any and every perceived false move or loss. 

Others will not support the coach because to them he is not the right guy (remember the special football knowledge), and will actively campaign for his removal from day one as being the wrong guy for UF.
