Several years ago, when he was still with the Warriors (and before the Warriors had won a championship) I walked over to the Publix near my old office to get a sub for lunch.  Directly in front of me in line was David wearing Warriors sweats.  I gave him a quick Go Gators to which he replied the same and then planned on giving him his privacy, but he struck up a conversation with me while we waited to place our orders about UF, basketball, etc.  He also told me that depsite playing in Atlanta the night before they decided to stay the night and fly out the next day since they had a day off and as he had bragged about the Publix subs he was sent to go get them for several teammates.  

As we were talking a woman walked up to us, looked at him (again, 6'10" wearing sweats of an NBA team) and asked him  if he played basketball.  While he turned to answer her he rolled his eyes at me showing how much he dislikes that question, so I quickly answered for him, "Yes, we both do.  We play for the Warriors"  Not missing a beat, David reach down real low, put his hand on my shoulder and said, "Yeah, I play a few minutes a game off the bench, but he is one of our stars, which is why I have to wear sweats but he can wear the fancy suit."  The woman was so excited and asked for an autograph, which we both happily gave her.  She also took a picture with both of us. I always wonder what happened when she got home and showed the picture (and the autographs) to her family and friends.
