after this performance, the conference office may consider ordering that (1) the Gators' football team can no longer appear on television, either live or by replay, except after 9 pm with an appropriate parental warning; and (2) all references to and video clips of UF football be removed from those commercials that say "the SEC -- here, it just means more."  

Seriously, though, call me a crappy fan if you like, but I was naive enough to think that this team might come out today with renewed fire and determination, motivated by the opportunity to turn the season around, qualify for a bowl game, and recapture some measure of pride.  Instead, all I've seen is a steaming mound of malaise. 

I've been a fixture at Florida Field since 1974, including the infamous 0-10-1 season.  I've had the good fortune to attend every national championship game in which the Gators played, including the Drubbing in the Desert at the hands of the Huskers.  And like so many others here, I celebrated with unbridled enthusiasm when the Gators triumphed, applauded with appreciation when their efforts came up short, and shook my head in disappointment when they lost because of avoidable mistakes or self-inflicted misfortune.  But never before today have I seen a Florida football game that left me feeling from the outset that our players, for the most part, simply didn't care.  No matter what else happens, that has to change.
