after listening to several different college football podcasts, watching ESPIN, reading various websites, etc etc.... the reaction of much of the media this past week to news that UF might hire Chip Kelly sure has been entertaining. Seemingly every single college football talking head in America has felt the need to weigh in on it. It was really funny listening to the ESPN guys trying their darndest to will him to UCLA. This is getting more attention by far than ucf’s season for example and they’re undefeated. How come? We’ve been practically invisible from their standpoint since Urban left. Chip Kelly’s been out of coaching for almost a year and you didn’t hear rampant speculation about him like this before. I think there is a GREAT amount of fear out there about what happens if we find somebody who knows how to drive a Ferrari. Quietly listening to some of the chatter around the office from fans of other SEC schools (they’re dead set against it) would seem to confirm my suspicion. |
