He knows UF and how much of a pain in the ass we can be, yet he still wants the job. Tom Herman was the big splash hire last year but I have watched all Texas' games this year (wife is a UT grad) and I have been underwhelmed. And he has said a few times that he is surprised at how tough the job is and how high the expectations are. That's what a young coach is going to find at UF too, and we don't know how they will respond. Mullin knows and he's ok with it. That's big IMO. Sure, he's a bit of a jerk. But we really need a jerk to handle us.

He also knows the deal with the SEC. Let's not underestimate this. It's not a walk in the park on or off the field, and he has a ton of experience with it and is happy to step right into the meat grinder. No way to know how a young untested guy would handle it.

Our offense has never been any good since he left. Sure he had Tebow and Harvin but our last couple coaches would have squandered them like they wasted a bunch of other careers.

If he is successful, he's not going anywhere ever. He's not an NFL guy and he wouldn't be longing for another college job. This is the one he wants.

He's still pretty young but also has a lot of experience coaching in the SEC. That experience is extremely valuable.

Look, I know a lot of us are disappointed and I get it. It's a safe move when we all wanted a home run. But I really think he is solidly above average and this move reduces the likelihood of another total disaster. Ok that's all I got
