football program is pretty much a crap shoot, there are no guarantees even with those we think are guarantees so I'm not worked up one way or another and this would be true of just about any candidate we hired.

I'm one of the few who wasn't excited by CK (don't believe he's a good cultural fit at UF, especially given his quirky personality, one that is following another quirky personality which was ridiculed by much of the fan base) but I was willing to accept him just as I'm willing to accept Dan Mullen.  Is Mullen the perfect candidate?  No, but there is no perfect candidate.  Some believe that because the money has become so big in college sports, especially in the two major sports, coaches are somehow better, smarter, more prepared to lead the program.  I believe coaches aren't any better or worse, they are just paid better and with that increase in $$ comes more scrutiny and higher expectations whether these are truly reasonable expectations or not.

Regarding Dan Mullen, I'm more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.  I know that many preferred Frost over Mullen and the fact that he is young with only a minimal track record leads us to hope/believe that he is a better hire but when I look at it rationally, I don't see that he is any more qualified than Mullen.  If it had been Frost, I would have been fine with him too and would give him the same support I will give Mullen.

One thing I feel certain on, that we will have a better prepared QB and an offense that is more defined and one where I'm not left scratching my head wondering what the heck is going on in the mind of the OC.  My wife supports him, thinks he is a good hire so if nothing else, he has that going for him.   As for me, I'm pretty much in Missouri mode, prove to me that you can do the job, earn my support. I will give you unconditional support for a reasonable time frame but after that, you will get it based on your merits and performance.  Best wishes to you and to us!
