The last time the Gators had an effective and exciting offense, Dan Mullen was coaching them up and calling the shots.  Apparently, some Gators who played for him then, and whose judgment I regard as credible, believe he is well qualified to be the head coach.  At the very least, he is more qualified for that position than others we've hired or considered hiring in the recent past with respect to his mature demeanor, his experience as a head coach in the SEC, his familiarity with the traditions and culture of Gator Nation, and his proven track record of putting better-than-competent quarterbacks on the field.  

I don't understand how anyone can presume to condemn the hiring of Dan Mullen as a "horrible" decision when he hasn't yet had an opportunity to demonstrate what he can achieve with the resources that will be available to him at the University of Florida.  It seems to me that Gator fans who genuinely desire to see our football program return to prominence in the Southeastern Conference and the college football world should be providing positive support to our new coach and wishing for him to succeed, rather than expressing doubt about his prospects or, even worse, prematurely declaring their belief that he is likely to fail.  If you're not yet inclined to give the man your enthusiastic support, I think you should at least give him a chance before assuming that the results of his efforts can only be unsatisfactory.
