One of the concerns for Jones is the supporting cast around him.

This is an indicator for UF...a very good one. 

I can't say for certain, but this could be a very good week for CDM and Gator football. Let's hope. 

I want to give kudos to Dan Mullen for his attention to detail and sense of urgency in terms of both recruiting and staff management. Yes, we haven't filled all our staff positions.

BUT...QB is the BIGGEST issue at UF right now. It's everything. 

CDM knew that he needed more than himself on the task of bringing in a top-caliber QB. So he made it a priority to hire a top-caliber QB coach in Johnson...and doing so has helped us in our recruitment of Fields and Jones.

For whatever dumbass reason, Fields wants to go watch football at UGA for three years rather than play it. 

But we are now the leader in the home stretch for Jones. Granted, this could all fall through and maybe we don't get Jones. That would be terrible. Yet, let's take a moment to appreciate the fact that in a very, very, very short time Mullen has managed to get UF in the pole position for his services. To do this, Mullen had to out jockey the two best recruiting head coaches in college football. In fact, Saban and Meyer are arguably the two best recruiting head coaches of all time. 

Sure, CDM was the first to identify Jones' talent when he offered him before anyone to play at MSU. However, MSU was loooooooooong out of the running, because it was MSU. And let's be blunt, a lot of shine has come off the orange domes with the Gator script. 

So I want to appreciate this moment, before the ball drops. It's easy to type flattering things when good news is certain. But no matter what happens on Wednesday, I am very impressed with the work Mullen has done in getting us this far with Jones.

I catch a lot of #badword# on this board because I say what I think. I am passionate about my Gators and this leads me to want the best for UF Football. So when I am critical, that is my way of being supportive. I realize that my criticism will not change the state of things, but it comes from the same place that criticism directed at me from Pumpers originates...loyalty to UF.

In this moment, I am positive. I am positive not because I know we will get Jones...in fact...it's hard to bet against Meyer. Do I think we land him? Yes. My confidence, however, is 3% (if that).

Still, I am damn impressed that have a legitimate shot.

So great work CDM. Great work.
