in the citizens of their state? When has a party ever used a tax to target their opposition before?

Never mind that this shows it's not a tax cut for many people, including the middle class (do you no longer believe in proof in advertising).

Also, this was sold a tax simplification, and it's clearly not. And I stand by my statement this was rushed through to give the GOP a "win" with little thought to long term and unintended consequences.==============================

the state budgets of some states to the extent we have long done.  States, including Blue ones, are still free to make tax assessments and collect tax revenues as they see fit.  They can "invest" in whatever their leaders and citizens desire.  Nobody is stopping, or punishing, such decisions and actions.  

FTR, I'm all for less income tax exemptions and credits.  Lower the rates and limit the deductions.  If people want to own homes, let them do so.  If they wish to send their kids to private schools, let them do so.  If they want to purchase electric vehicles or install solar panels, let them do so without depending on a tax incentive.  I'm of the opinion that we would be better off with less tax considerations when making economic decisions.
