or at least think there is a better way to highlight that. Despite the fact I hate (and have for some time) the faux rah rah patriotism* that is de rigueur before sporting events. Playing the SSB before football and besibol games dates to WW2 (some say WW1, but It had mostly died out). It should have stopped at VJ Day. Now having said that when the SSB is played I place my hand over my heart and sing (not mouth) the words of the SSB, and more often than not tear up thinking of Frances Key and Dr. Beanes as they waiting for the sunrise to see if the flag still flew over Fort McHenry (remember that the British had just burned Washington). So if the flag is displayed and the anthem is played, yeah I wish that everyone would show reverence, if for nothing else out of respect, for those to whom it means something**.

Now having said that I don't really give a #badword# if someone decides that this te SSB) is not for them. One of our high school coaches was JW and he sat during the national anthem***. But Kapernick started this to bring attention or get a reaction. Even when someone is not trying to draw attention or get a reaction, that person has no control over how someone reacts, it is doubly so when do for reaction's sake (and yes he is doing it for reaction--to bring attention to the shooting of unarmed civilians by the police) .

So yeah, KGA is allowed to react how he wants or feels or whatever to Kapernick's kneeling and it not inconsistent to say they are both with in their bounds for doing so and the stupid NFL is in bounds for accepting or rejecting whatever ad they want to.

**Meaning those who have heard shots fired in anger (e,g, combat veterans/cops), run into a burning building or had their heads cracked open or homes/churches dynamited in defense of the freedoms the flag represents.

*** I think we need someothing other than the SSB as our national anthem--how about "America the Beautiful" or "God Bless America"(which people spontaneously sang after VE Day, VJ Day and 911), or the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" or even "Columbia the Gem of the Ocean" or "Hail COlumbia".
