Trump claims that Amazon does not pay sales tax and that the USPS is losing money. What a complete crock. This is mostly about the WaPo being PERSONALLY owned by Jeff Bezos. - I pay sales tax on Amazon purchases. I believe the states are the ones that determine if you pay sales taxes, including on-line companies like Amazon. - The USPS does not have to bid on Amazon logistics business. Nobody put a gun to their head. They compete against FedEx Ground and UPS for that business. Apparenty the USPS makes money on Amazon deliveries, but loses on the mail side of the house. - I am not crazy about small retailers going out of business because they cannot compete with Amazon. Hey, but that's capitalism baby. Amazon is a portal for small companies who want to sell their products on the Amazon marketplace so that should help them. Trump is a vindictive little man. |
