thanks to the few zealots around here who feel the #2 amendment in the Bill of Rights needs to be followed to the letter despite it being designed to regulate muskets  ....unbelievable ! I am convinced that common sense gun regulation is possible....no compromise is ever enough for the far right. the issue of gun control might just be the driver that brings millions of moderates and liberals to the polls and allows the democrats to gain the majority in congress. Then if the Democrats could just learn to unite on key issues, like the republicans are so good at ( I call it right wing goose step ) imagine how they could change America for the better. 

then I just don't know what to say.  They are the other side of the same coin.  Few moderates reside in either party today at the national level, at least few in the leadership positions.  Any agenda pushed by the apparent leaders, were the Democrats regain control in Congress, is likely to be just as extreme and partisan as that of the Republicans, even if they are less impotent wrt passing legislation ,,,,, regarsdless our individual positions on certain issues.
