Wow. Denver Post editorial calls on ownership to sell the paper.

I have never seen an editorial like this. Not surprised some scummy hedge fund is behind the crippling layoffs.

About how much trouble the journalism business is in, especially local newspapers, and there was one key takeaway for me that made a whole lot of sense. As these papers die, local, state, and municipal governments will become much more corrupt as local journalism has always been the primary watchdog.  

They highly recommended subscribing to your local paper in some form and supporting their advertisers in hopes of limiting this. In some markets the fundamental economics of the business just don't exist anymore. All the more reason for the public journalism the Republicans are always trying to shut down.

A market like Denver should still be able to support a good newspaper. It's a major city that is consistently growing. Of course you don't create a good sustainable business in journalism or any industry by laying everyone off.... a pox on the houses of all those #badword#s!
