simply because they are intoxicated?  Don't those comments have to be in there to begin with?

which could be considered as "racist" by generally-accepted standards today?  I prefer to judge people on their actual behavior over time.  Everyone I know has said and done things which, upon reflection, they wish hadn't been said or done.  Sometimes these are deliberate, sometimes accidental, sometimes as a response to a trigger. 

I seriously doubt that, simply  because I haven't heard comments one might deem "racist" from an individual, they never have harbored such thoughts.  That they may harbor such thoughts doesn't necessarily qualify them as a "racist" .... even if they may say/do something which is offensive .... particularly if they recognize such and offer a sincere apology.
