Message Replied To ========== Indeed. This is an example of what was discussed below on how overzealous dislike (or outright hatred and contempt) for Trump and the Republicans leads to hyperbole such as "evil", comparisons to Nazis and mullahs in Iran, etc. In some ways very reminiscent of De Niro's outburst recently. It's one thing to call attention to something specific with which one has issue, particularly if offering a counter viewpoint or option, but matching Trump et. al. wrt demeanor is likely to turn off a number of folks who aren't particularly fond of Trump. ==============================it's time for Americans to stop pretending that "evil" is a term used for leaders from other countries or superhero villans in movies (looking at you Thanos). Whether some here want to admit it or not, our POTUS has far more in common with his friend from North Korea than he does Merkel, Abe, Trudeau, etc... Specifically, Trump is an egomaniac who acts purely out of self interest and shows no sympathy or empathy for anyone harmed by his selfish deeds. If reality were a movie, Trump and Sessions would be among the "bad guys" in the film. None of that is hyperbole. This is a dark era in American histroy. With all of that said, I agree that Trump is not Hitler. I do, however, think that those who blindly support Trump and defend him to the hilt demonstrate characteristics similar to those who blindly defended Hitler. Hitler's defenders wanted to make Germany great again following defeat in WWI. They looked the other way while autrocities happened, calling the camps "fake news." They didn't want to see what was happening because they didn't want to believe it. Now, children from families who escaped terrible conditions to build a life in America are being torn from those families. In some cases, they are being turned over to those known for human trafficking. Our POTUS is aware of this. He promised to only focus on the "bad hombres", but he lied. If you are brown, you are going down...but if you are from Norway you can stay. All of us here are intelligent enough to see through the propaganda, we know that illegal immigrants are not the threat that Trump claims. Now also, the US is reinvesting in private prisons. Efforts to crank up the war on drugs are going into practice so that we can fill those private prisons with persons from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. The nonviolent offenders we load into our prisons mean more $$$ for Sessions' friends (who then take care of Se$$ions). Who cares how many lives are destroyed? Explain how none of that is evil and how the term is hyperbolic? I'll hang up and listen. |
