campaign finance laws in Great Britain.  The vote of the people was still the vote of the people, and Brexit won.  Was it because of some emotional pleas or false information disseminated?  Possibly, for some voters.  Did that make THE difference in a close election?  Possibly.  Yet, how is that any different than campaign smear tactics or false claims which we might see in any democratic election anywhere?  Really, it is not.

Yes, campaign finance law violation should be prosecuted, especially if done intentionally.  But the people of GB voted for what they thought they wanted.  Simply because political opponents of leaving the EU would like a re-vote is not necessarily good reason to have one, unless the vote totals were somehow altered.  Part of a democratic election system is accepting, if not likeing or agreeing with, the results.  Recount?  Sure, if warranted.  Re-vote?  Hell, almost no election would be final or accepted.

Protocol cannot, and should not, account for gullible or lazy individuals in a democratic society.  The Brits got Brexit.  The Americans got Trump.  Many do not like one or the other, or either.
