With about 5 weeks of free time before my next classes, it’s time for a road trip. But because I am not able to drive for extended time, I’m doing the next best thing: Amtrak.

I leave from Washington Union Station later today on a month-long trip that will take me to see family and friends in Chicago (Gator aunt), Arizona (Gator dad/sis), LA (Gator aunt/uncle), SF (where I lived and practiced law in the 90's), Portland (cousin), Seattle (high school friends), Minneapolis (Mary Tyler Moore statue!), then back through Chicago on the way home. I return in mid-August, just in time to head to NC to celebrate the wedding of one of my best friends, who I have known and loved since we were 3-yr-old mischief-makers in Ft. Lauderdale. And then - FOOTBALL SEASON!

It really will be the adventure of a lifetime. Mrs. GJ is bored by trains, so I will be traveling *unsupervised. Will report on how many "Go Gators" I get along the way.
