What is the conservative spin/perspective on why Trump behaved like he did in Helsinki?

I've seen deflection, and of course I heard Trump's would/wouldn't nonsense, but I don't hear much from hardcore Trumpers as to why he behaved like he was afraid to stand up to Putin.

Is there an explanation that those who are real cultists believe?  Like he just believes he can be Putin's friend and doesn't want to upset his relationship with him?  Obviously that seems really naive and silly to most of us, but I am curious if that is the explanation or if there is something else I haven't heard.

Conservative perspective or a Trump fan perspective? Two different things. This conservative couldn't think any lower of the way he conducted himself and what he said. I am not a treason expert but he certainly gave some level of aid and comfort to an enemy. It turned my stomach.

I knew a guy that was so afraid of dying he wouldn't get up. He died in bed.
