Message Replied To ========== that has always been the standard The shooter started the ARGUMENT. The VICTIM was the only one to start a fight. He knocked the shooter down with a single blow, then did not retreat. Even without “stand your ground” the shooter had a right to defend himself once struck and put in a situation where he could not retreat. That he was a hot head who had confronted people for parking in the handicapped spot before is as immaterial as the fact that the victim had been arrested for battery in the past. Neither onew the other’s past. No, you can not hit people without expecting it to escalate. The strike changed the calculation of it such that it was not murder. That does not mean the victim’s family can not seek civil damages for wrongful death. But murder? No. It was self defense with video evidence. ============================== Most in similar situations to this... Heated argument, and one guy shoves the other. It is mindboggling to me that we are ok with someone being killed over a shove. Mindboggling We have become a nation of unethical, immoral, cowards. |
