And there are few better examples than Captain & Senator John McCain. One of my favorite politicians although I respectfully disagreed on many an issue. 

The media called him a maverick or whatever. He played along to some extent. What he really was however was a guy who 99% of the time was going to shoot straight and say and do exactly what he believed was really in the best interest of the country regardless of the latest polling, party affiliation, etc. 

Well done, sir, if there's a heaven, you surely get a high seat, so if you could do us one last favor and ask God to bless us with more leaders of your mold, that would make America great again!
