There are going to be further developments on this. Now that the dam has cracked, it's certainly possible more may come forward. Or not.

There's going to be a huge cloud over Kavanaugh if he's confirmed without any resolution to any of this via an independent investigation by professionals trained to do so (in other words, the FBI). I don't understand why he seemingly is OK with that cloud. Are his handlers telling him "no, no, no investigation"? And if so, should a SCOTUS nominee really have "handlers"?

There are a lot of questions all the way around, and we don't have much in the way of answers. 

EVIDENCE of what has been alleged .... which is essentially where we are at currently.  No amount of FURTHER investigation is likely to produce a different result, due in great measure to the time which has elapsed, no physical "crime" scene evidence, and conflicting memories/testimony.

2)  This is a political issue, which is not to dismiss Blasey-Ford or her perceived/real experiences, merely that the only resolution to this mess is political.  To that end, the Democrats will CONTINUE to do anything and everything to delay or deny his confirmation, regardless of the "truth".  Likewise, the Republican leaders are going to push ahead with the confirmation proceedings, short of an admission of guilt or resignation by Kavanaugh.  Further, wrt any "clouds", the vast majority of people are sufficiently partisan (imo) that they won't give him the benefit of the doubt or they won't hold it over him, predicated on where their political allegiences may fall.

Again, this is not a criminal matter.  This is a political matter.  Once we recognize this, whether we like it or not, we can address it realistically.
