There is no physical evidence and no one sees you. 

There are no absolutes and most rational people accept things should be judged case by case. Your unsubstantiated is someone’s credible.  No incident should be accepted or dismissed as a rule simply because they fall into that category.

i for one think we should be sure our next SC Justice didn’t assault a woman in High school rather than just be satisfied with, she can’t prove it. Doesn’t seem that unreasonable 

Yes, we have a serious problem with requiring corroboration for  sexual assault claims, because it usually occurs in a private setting.   If the man can avoid leaving any physical evidence, then he can get away with just about anything.

OTOH, I'm not comfortable with refusing to confirm a Supreme Court Justice just because a woman is willing to testify that he assaulted her in High School over 35 years ago.    Looking at this in the abstract -- without thinking of the actual testimony of Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh -- it sounds absurd.  Any woman in the right age range who grew up in the right area could come forward and make baseless claims in order to disqualify a nominee.  Whether she was paid off, or just saw it as her "civic duty" to sink a nominee that she didn't like.

There needs to be something to make these claims credible.   By the same token, I am not willing to just ignore claims that are presented without corroborating evidence.    Investigate, and see what comes up, but in this case I suspect there we will ulitimately be left with "he said, she said" and nothing else.
