he sure thinks he understands the evil left’s deepest Machiavellian desires and motives.  Basically everything you bolded after the “crux” 

Why is it so hard to understand that a progressive social agenda is not about beating anyone up and imposing my will, it’s about not letting others impose their will?  like going after legally protected discrimination being mischaracterized  an assault on religious freedoms. 

There are examples of stupid overreach on every political issue on both sides, but they Don’t necessarily prove the rule. 

It IS about imposing will, that's why the left focuses so much on using the court to accomplish its goals. It's not enough to let the states choose a position themselves, or work through legislation. The former might not produce a uniform goal, and the latter might water down the goal. Neither of those, apparently, are acceptable to the left.

If the left's goal was "live and let live", or "let the people decide whereever the people live", you'd have a point. Instead, the goal is "you'll do it our way because we know we're right".  That viewpoint and fiscal insanity are why I left the D party.
