and it's not from my typical overeating on Thanksgiving. Tomorrow we play the 'Noles.
I will be there. I'm sure my heart will be tested once again. I really don't know what to expect. My negative side knows FSU doesn't fear the Gators and certainly has had the edge on us over the past 15 or so years. The Gators game plan will try to play it close to the vest and will face a very formidable front seven. If FSU gets their running game going we will be in big trouble and Washington ate us up last year. If we get well down, I fear the Swamp isn't what it used to be and I'm afraid the crowd could actually dampen the situation.
My positive side says the Gators have been hardened though significant tests over the season. We have defeated some good football teams and lost to some good football teams. When I look at the FSU schedule I think...who have they played...who have they beaten? If the game is in fact close, the Swamp should come alive and be a factor. Maybe we will test it downfield since Clemson had success doing it. Maybe Rix will melt down and make mistakes.
I'm going to try to relax and enjoy this always electric atmosphere. I have entered the games afraid that we would lose vs. LSU, Ark., UGa. and USC. This team salvaged a co-championship of the SEC East. That was quite an accomplishment given where they were and where their fans were at 3-3. No objective football fan can say the Gators, the Vols or the Dawgs don't deserve to go to the SECC game. Should LSU win today, I'm not so sure I want a rematch. If they lose, I would love a rematch with Ole Miss. If we beat FSU and don't go to the SECCG, we might actually be better of physiologically and financially. Let me make it clear, I WOULD RATHER PLAY FOR THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST LSU OR OLE MISS THAN NOT. If we don't go, however, I will still be able reflect on this team's season of pride and grit with pride of my own. These young players have built a strong foundation for the future and have learned and experienced, from the Seniors on this team, what leadership is all about.
Let's be loud and proud!!
