Message Replied To ========== Andrew Gillum: Trump Has Provided ‘Cover’ for Racists ![]() https://www.mediaite.com/online/andrew-gillum-trump-has-provided-cover-for-racists/ ==============================He is steadily working through the initiatives that Bannon wanted in place and Bannon pulled most of those ideas from the "extreme right" .... which is basically white supremacist groups. This is what I referenced below. It's scary that the Southern Poverty Law Center has reported that ideas and myths that once only circulated amongst the extremist and racist fringe are now debated in our society and supported by our POTUS. But him doing this makes racism political. For example, disparate treatment of immigrants from certain countries flies in the face of multiple Constitutional Amendments. Yet, Trump's supporters are more than fine with policies that treat brown people who come from "#badword# hole countries" different from white immigrants who come from Norway. And the rest of us can't call this out for what it is (racism) because "playing the R card" triggers the same knee-jerk reaction. Half the board stars and half monkeys. But the #badword#ing policy is racist. In fact, several of Trump's efforts were MORE THAN de facto racist, they were de jure racist. And when FEDERAL JUDGES identify them as such, then Trump calls them to task as "so-called" and his minions (fitting term) defend him to the hilt. And better yet, they can openly support his racism by going on rants similar to one posted further down the board. After all, anyone who opposes what Trump is doing is deranged and nothing more than a liberal/progressive socialist. Where they run into trouble is when they take their racism to the streets and put it into action. Think about how many videos of racist treatment of people have gone viral since Trump's election into office. It's like people think that Trump winning legitimized their racism. And sadly, maybe it did. Notice how as we move further into his term the points of contention move more and more to the extreme. We started with travel bans and now we are debating whether Trump can end citizenship by birth. I'm anxiously, and nervously, waiting for the next racist initiative to drop...one that will be more dangerous than those we've seen so far. I don't care if someone's support for these causes is driven by racism or extreme partisanship. The result is the same.
