Message Replied To ========== Thoughts on that. 1.) this is what we get for selling out the soul of the school, Florida Kids, for the higher SAT scores from out of state or international students. The students we are admitting couldn’t care less about the Football team. 2.) no considerations for Alumni’s kids, in the Admissions process. There should be some allowance for a top 10% student that is the son or daughter of an alumni. 3.) Pricing arrogance. I gave up my season tickets when I moved out of the Terrace, to a bench seat section (lots of tailgate friends there), and the next year, Boosters wanted the same booster fee as the Terrace. Uh, no... you don’t get a $3k booster fee for section 15. There is a disconnect between the Boosters, ticket office, and the product on the field. The school has abandoned the decades and decades of loyalty built through legacy of families raising their kids to be Gators, by going to games, and parades and homecomings, only to find out that their straight A, Honor Society, 1500 SAT kid can’t be accepted to their Alma Mater. Add to that, The inexplicable, poor coaching hires, and poor performance on the field, and Alumni are asking themselves ‘What am I buying?’ I am sincerely hoping that Coach Dan Mullen is going to turn this around. ============================== 1.) this is what we get for selling out the soul of the school, Florida Kids, for the higher SAT scores from out of state or international students. The students we are admitting couldn’t care less about the Football team. That isn't true or fair. The vast majority of UF students still come from in-state. 2.) no considerations for Alumni’s kids, in the Admissions process. There should be some allowance for a top 10% student that is the son or daughter of an alumni. That isn't true either. Last I checked, kids of alumni do get a slight bump. And the fact is we could admit nothing BUT kids of alumni, and still not have nearly enough space in the admitting class. If kids REALLY want to go to UF, there are multiple ways they can do it, through starting in the spring or summer and/or going the JUCO route. 3.) Pricing arrogance. Uh, no... you don’t get a $3k booster fee for section 15. I will not argue that the UFAA got greedy. They thought the world wasn't going to change and that demand was going to continue to grow, and the world changed. And so did demand. They're having to change with it. I completely disagree with this. For one thing, SAT scores aren't even all that big a factor in admission. The essay matters a LOT. Plus see my other comments above. Add to that, The inexplicable, poor coaching hires, and poor performance on the field, and Alumni are asking themselves ‘What am I buying?’ No argument here. I am sincerely hoping that Coach Dan Mullen is going to turn this around. I am convinced he will. The right QB will make all the difference.
