"Dear Sir . . . ignore is for pussies says a man I admire . . . however . . . "

Message Replied To ==========

There you go again, with misguided insane support of treason-trade that's causing ..

… our economic destruction, and eventually our total destruction.

Your stuff triggers me to want to get to my pulpit and pontificate on it, I will admit.

But I just won't do it today. I won't give in to my own version of buying another copy of "Catcher In The Rye" just because it's back on the shelf again.

Other than to simply voice my objection to your ignorant, insane support of treason-trade. I'm not going to launch into the full A-Z reasons why it is destructive insanity, why Ricardo's parable is completely ignorant and dangerous when applied to a real world where other nations, because of low labor costs or lack of regulations, or other reasons, will always find ways to be more efficient, lower cost, than nations like the US.

That is, until the US becomes the impoverished, low-cost labor source because of treason-trade. But even then we will not  recover, because other nations like China will never be as stupid and ignorant and suicidal as the US and it's treason-traders, China will never allow imports to threaten, much less destroy, it's own manufacturing base.

One last thing... use your imagination for one moment:  IMAGINE what the United States economy would be like today and in the future, IF we still manufactured ALL of our own automobiles, ships, planes, TV's, phones, computers, peripherals, light bulbs, furniture, toys, building materials. IF we did not have a big firehose connected to our national treasury, spewing all our money and jobs to foreign adversaries instead of keeping it for US right here in the US.  Just imagine what our economy, our country, would be like today and in the future if that were true, instead of the bleak current situation and future that treason-trade has led and is leading us to.

==============================

It's Friday . . .  I accept that "Treason-trade", however inflammatory, is your new catch phrase and am willing to over look its inflammatory nature because it captures your misguided understanding of trade.  However, I'm only going to put up with being called ignorant for this moment.  You are more than welcome to disagree with me and you can put that into whatever words logically fit that situation.  But I will not submit to being labeled ignorant for having a differing opinion of trade than yours.  While I'm not claiming to be Adam Smith or Milton Friedman, I'm quite confident that I'm at least as knowledgeable of the topic as you.

Ignore is for pussies . . . Don't make me disappoint Hobbes.

"The authority of government, even such as I am willing to submit to — for I will cheerfully obey those who know and can do better than I, and in many things even those who neither know nor can do so well — is still an impure one: to be strictly just, it must have the sanction and consent of the governed. It can have no pure right over my person and property but what I concede to it. The progress from an absolute to a limited monarchy, from a limited monarchy to a democracy, is a progress toward a true respect for the individual. Even the Chinese philosopher was wise enough to regard the individual as the basis of the empire. Is a democracy, such as we know it, the last improvement possible in government? Is it not possible to take a step further towards recognizing and organizing the rights of man? There will never be a really free and enlightened State until the State comes to recognize the individual as a higher and independent power, from which all its own power and authority are derived, and treats him accordingly. I please myself with imagining a State at least which can afford to be just to all men, and to treat the individual with respect as a neighbor; which even would not think it inconsistent with its own repose if a few were to live aloof from it, not meddling with it, nor embraced by it, who fulfilled all the duties of neighbors and fellow-men. A State which bore this kind of fruit, and suffered it to drop off as fast as it ripened, would prepare the way for a still more perfect and glorious State, which also I have imagined, but not yet anywhere seen."
