It seems, to me, that a lot of people are getting recruit-crazed. I know several LSU fans who know more about a potential recruit's academic progress than the kid's parents probly do. A lot of this stuff borders on stalkerish, and, as far as I'm concerned, is almost completely contrary to the academic and athletic ideal towards which most schools supposedly strive. When I was a junior in High School I had a lot of schools calling me, trying to get me to come up for a visit, mostly private schools. I knew I wanted to go to LSU since I was a Sophmore. I had no interest in these schools and the fact that they were calling gave me a chance to amuse myself at their expense, "tell me again about this and that...", "when does your school start? Oh no, that won't do..." I can't imagine the balls these guys have to call recruits and interview them. My mother was going crazy with calls from my girlfriend and friends. I couldn't imagine her wrath if I had 30+ year old guys calling me asking if I was "heavy on Michigan" or "a little soft of Carolina". I think it's healthy for a school to disassociate itself with these sorts of people.
