1. His sense of humor-I remember once reporters were shouting questions at him as he was getting off a plane in Europe and was confronted by dozens of protestors. A reporter asked him if all of the protestors bother him, he replied "Naw, I thought they sent them to make me feel at home".
2. Closely related to this was his placid, implacable disposition. The press was still feeling their oats just a few years after Watergate and were quite zealous in their questioning of Reagan. Never once did anybody see him lose his cool or display anything but a calm self-confidence.
3. His love for his country-Regardless of what you thought of his policies, I honestly think he believed in them and that they were what was needed to make America great again. He had a great sencse of sincerity.
4. He restored American self-respect-We were coming off some tough time; Vietnam, Watergate, double-digit inflation, the Iran hostage crisis. Reagan dealt with this negative legacy and restored some badly-needed self-confidence to this country.
5. His respect for the office-In this aspect, he was far, far ahead of Bill Clinton.
