"I believe I understand what Mud is saying."

And I also don't think you were trying to stir things up. When we find an article or column we find truthful or insightful of a pertinent point that's good and we should want to share it and present it for discussion. But unless it news the post really should have a little bit of a personal touch as to why we think this is good or bad or smart or stoopid or whatever. Even if it's just to say something like, "I found this entry by an Iraqi regarding the hand over of power and what it means to him to be very (moving, crazy, inspiring, jingoistic, etc.). I think the change will (suck, go smoothly, cause a second summer of love, whatever) because (Mud's a bandwidth nazi, Paris is flirting with Albert, or something real)." I like to think we care about each other and what WE think. The outside stuff we bring here is just window dressing for the main event - us. Sometimes a whole article is necessary, but unless it requires subscription or is not on the web a link works well. However, another problem with a link to a column/article or a large C&P is that the person doing that then takes the responsibility that they agree with everything that is in that link or C&P. Smaller, more pertinent C&P used to support your own words along with an accompanying link to allow the reader to check where you got what you're using is much better. Also, documented facts are much more convincing than outside opinions when trying to support a contention. Hey, that's just my two cents. I respect your opinion and input even though we disagree on things from time to time.
